New Matter Donates 3D Printers To STEM Program

Pasadena-based 3D printer manufacturer New Matter announced this morning that it is donating five of its MOD-t 3D printers to a science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education organization program in Downey, called the Challenger Center. According to New Matter, the Challenger Learning Center at the Columbia Memorial Space Center was awarded the 3D printers for its educational programs, with the 3D printers already being used at the center's 3D printing summer camp.

Cibus Readies Enhanced Crops for Push into Canada, and Beyond

After raising $57 million in a Series B round of venture funding, the San Diego agricultural biotech Cibus Global is laying the groundwork to introduce its first commercial product in Canada. Cibus introduced its first enhanced crop—an herbicide-resistant strain of canola—in the U.S. about two years ago, CEO Peter Beetham said Wednesday in an interview with Xconomy.

Irvine-based Ten-X , the operator of online real estate marketplace Auction.com and other sites, has been acquired by private equity investor Thomas H. Lee Partners , the two said this morning. Financial details of the buy were not announced by the companies. Ten-X said that its prior backers, Stone Point Capital, and Capital G (formerly Google Capital), as well as members of its senior management team, will continue to hold minority stakes in the company.

The funding was led by Revolution Growth, and also included Foundry Group, Amazon Alexa Fund, NTT DOCOMO Ventures, The Glenmede Trust, and Bespoke Strategies. TrackR has now raised $60M in total.
