SpaceX Buys Swarm Technologies

Los Angeles-based rocket and spacecraft developer SpaceX has acquired Swarm Technologies, a developer of "smallsat" (small satellite) technology. Financial terms of the buy were not announced, and no details of the acquisition were announced. The deal was uncovered via a series of filings with the FCC. Swarm has a network of 120. cubesats"-- small satellites in orbit, which are providing Internet-of-Things services.

According to Rocket Lab, it will launch the CAPSTONE mission to the Moon from its launch complex in New Zealand, in Q4 of 2021, its first launch to the Moon. The NASA funded mission will place a 55 pound satellite into lunar orbit, as part of a mission by NASA to establish a long term presence on the Moon.
