SnackNation Becomes Caroo, Shifts Focus To Remote Work Support

Los Angeles-based SnackNation , which got its start delivering healthy snacks to vending machines and employee lunchrooms, says it has rebranded itself as Caroo , and expanded beyond snacks. According to Caroo, it is now providing "employee care and gifting" to "keep teams inspired and connected", no matter where they happen to be. According to Caroo, it curates healthier snacks, premium gifts, and "team building experiences" which it is delivering via its own software and technology platform.

LA's Newest Venture Fund, Mantis, Raises $35M

A new, Los Angeles-based venture capital fund-- Mantis --announced on Tuesday that it has raised $35M in commitments for its debut fund, Mantis Capital Fund I, LP. The new fund--created by Alex Pall and Drew Taggart of the musical group The Chainsmokers , says its limited partners include Mark Cuban, Keith Rabois, Jim Coulter, and Ron Conway. The new investment fund is being managed by Milan Koch (formerly a venture partner at Base Ventures), and record label founder Jeffrey Evans.

CUJO AI Deploys With Broadband Operators

El Segundo-based artificial intelligence software developer CUJO AI says it has deployed its "digital life protection" services across five North American broadband operators. According to the company, its product is now monitoring more than 700 million devices. Financial impact of those deployments have not been announced by the company. CUJO AI says its tools are used to improve the security, control, and privacy of connected devices.

Violux Finds $1.2M In Funding For UV Light Cleaning

Orange County-based Violux , a startup developing ultraviolet light (UV-C) home cleaning devices, announced this morning that it has raised $1.2M in a seed funding round. The funding was led by Okapi Venture Partners, and also included Unlock Ventures and Envoy Ventures. Violux says it has developed a UV-C light disinfection device, designed to fight the COVID-19 coroanvirus adn other germs, bacteria, and viruses, and which can be used to quickly disinfect high touch objects.
