Glendale online legal technology company LegalZoom.com Inc. announced June 30 it completed a $500 million financing round from four total investors, its second since the firm’s founding in 2001. With this investment, LegalZoom’s estimated value totals roughly $2 billion.

LegalZoom Sells $500M Secondary Stake To Private Equity Investors

Glendale-based LegalZoom , which provides legal services and documents for the small business and family market, announced on Tuesday that it has sold a $500M secondary stake in the company to a set of private equity investors. LegalZoom said the investment round was led by Francisco Partners and GPI Capital, and also included Franklin Templeton and Neuberger Berman.

Los Angeles-based managed hosting provider DreamHost said on Tuesday that it has named Ty Lampella as the company's new VP of Marketing. Lampella was previously an independent online marketing consultant, and previously also founded CareerLeak.com (sold to CyberCoders), worked at CyberCoders as Director of SEO, and also was at CareerBliss. DreamHost offers up both web and WordPress websites and managed services.

Santa Monica-based Cred , a new startup which is being incubated and advised by Mike Jones and Science Inc., said this morning that it has launched a new mobile app to help consumer invest and learn about cryptocurrency. The startup, led by Brendon McQueen, says its mobile app let users invest in cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others for as little as $10--and even lets users purchase cryptocurrency with the change they have from their everyday purchases.

According to DataDirect Networks, it entered into an Asset Purchase Agreement with DDN, as of July 18th, where DDN has offered to acquire "substantially all" of the assets of Tintri.

Blue Microphones Acquired By Logitech For $117M

Westlake Village-based Blue Microphones , which develops high end USB and other microphones, used both by professionals as well as amateurs in music recording, podcasting, YouTube streaming, and more, has been acquired by Logitech. The deal is worth $117M in cash. Blue Microphones was led by CEO John Maier. Logitech said Blue Microphones' products are used by such artists as Bob Dylan and Imagine Dragons, and said the acquisition will help accelerate its entry into a growing market.
