Irvine-based Synoptek, a business and technology consulting firm, said this week that it has acquired Macquarium, a business consulting and development services firm. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. Elon Musk appears to have gotten cold feet--or perhaps, is angling to lower the price--on his deal to acquire popular social media app Twitter. According to a post by Musk, who is CEO of Hawthorne-based SpaceX, he is putting the "Twitter deal temporarily on hold", after seeing details on how many users on the service are actually spam or fake accounts.

Hawthorne-based SpaceX has expanded availability of its Starlink satellite-based internet service to a total of 32 countries, the company said on Thursday. According to the company, it is now providing its service to Australia, Chile, US, Canada, Europe, Brazil, and elsewhere, an expansion from 25 countries supported in February. Irvine-based electric vehicle (EV) charging services provider Qmerit and low-carbon credit platform provider BTR Energy said this week that the two are in a partnership. According to the two, the partnership will enable Qmerit's commercial clients to monetize Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) credits issued by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
