Thousand Oaks-based California Lutheran University and its School of Management said on Monday that it has named both an Executive-In-Residence and Entrepreneur-In-Residence to the school. The school said Primo Custodio, most recently VP for Human Resources at NBC Universal, will become Executive-in-Residence for the business school, and Jim Cathcart, a motivational speaker and author, becomes Entrepreneur-in-Residence.

Los Angeles-based mobile movie ticketing service Atom Tickets , and Disney said over the weekend that the two are in a partnership, which comes out of Atom Tickets' involvement in the 2016 Disney Accelerator Program. The two said that fans who buy movie tickets to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story via its app, also will get the ability to buy exclusive products through its mobile ticketing app and website.

Anaheim-based Q-See , a seller of branded IP security cameras and other related products, has expanded into the dashboard camera market, with a new dash cam. The company said its Q-See QGo Dashcam provides both audio and video recording, and records videos onto a microSD card. The company sells its product for $99.00. It's unclear if Q-See designs and manufactures its own products, or if it is rebranding technology from OEMs.

Scientists are engineering a new living thing: a radically modified version of the lowly bacterium E. coli. In an article in Science from August , researchers at Harvard University described an ongoing project to build the genetic code of E. coli from scratch, but with major revisions to create a new strain unlike any in existence. The modified E. coli is meant to be so foreign to viruses that they will not be able to infect it.

San Diego-based biotechnology developer Synthorx announced today that it has named Patrick J. Doyle as its Chief Business Officer. Doyle previously has served at Kinemed, Kareus Therapeutics, Syntaxin and Metabolex, and has more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical R&D area, according to Synthorx. Synthorx is focused on developing novel protein therapeutics, and is venture backed by RA Capital Management, Avalon Ventures and Correlation Ventures.

Online Black Friday sales hit a record $3.34 billion, according to numbers tallied by Adobe over the weekend--a 17.7 percent increase year over year, the first time, sales on Friday were over $3 billion. According to Adobe, about $1.2 billion of that spending was made via mobile devices. Adobe said its numbers show the biggest winners on Friday were Apple iPads, Samsung 4K TVs, and Lego Creator sets.
