Pray.com Finds $14M For Social Networking For Religious Communities

Westlake Village-based Pray.com , which develops social networking applications for religious communities, has raised $14M in a Series A funding, the company said this week. The funding was led by TPG Growth, and also included Science Inc. and Greylock Partners. The startup, led by CEO Steve Gatena, has been based at California Lutheran University's Hub101 Incubator, and received a stealth seed funding round last year from Science and Greylock, which had not previously been announced.

Irvine-based antivirus and endpoint protection software developer Cylance has added three new people to its board of directors, according to the company, adding Kirk Arnold, Michael Capellas and Joe Maglione to the body. Arnold was most recently CEO of Data Intensity, LLC, and is also a lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management, where she teaches entrepreneurial sales and advanced ventures in its MBA program.

SpaceX Wins $290M Launch Contract From US Air Force

The US Department of Defense announced late Wednesday evening that it has awarded Hawthorne-based SpaceX , a $290.594M contract, to launch GPS satellites for the United States Air Force (USAF) into space, as part of its GPS III satellite constellation. The contract announcement by the DoD also included a $354.8M award to SpaceX competitor United Launch Services, for similar launch services for a pair of USAF satellites.

Ionis Pharmaceuticals hasn’t gone far to find a new home for a therapy that could soon be one of two approved treatments for a rare neurodegenerative disease called transthyretin amyloidosis.
