Fisker Announces New Electric Car, The Fisker EMotion

Los Angeles-based Fisker Inc. , the new electric car startup led by car designer Henrik Fisker, has announced its first vehicle, the Fisker EMotion , saying that it will tap technology from a UCLA spinout to help power the vehicle. Fisker said the new vehicle will be powered by graphene battery packs developed by Nanotech Energy Inc., a UCLA spinout specifically working on graphene research.

NGD Systems Gains Two New Patents

Irvine-based NGD Systems reported this morning that it has received two new patents for its solid state drive (SSD) technology. Both patents were developed by Vladimir Alves, the company's Chief Technology Officer, and Joao Alcantara. The company says it now has 14 patents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. U.S. Patent 9,448,745 was granted on September 20th, and had been filed on March 13, 2014; patnet 9,454,551 was also filed on March 13, 2014, and granted on September 27th.

Kingston Bumps Capacity of microSDHC Cards

Fountain Valley-based flash memory maker Kingston Digital has bumped the capacity of its line of Class 10 microSDHC/microSDXC cards, saying today that it now is offering up a new 256GB capacity card in the memory format. Kingston says it now offers capacities ranging from 16GB to 256GB on the popular Flash memory format, used in digital cameras. The new card handles up to 64,000 21MP images or up to 976 minutes of 1080p, 30 frames per second video.
