Oomba Acquires GameWorks

Irvine-based Oomba , which develops cloud-based, e-sports tournament software, said on Thursday that it has acquired GameWorks , the operator of a national chain of entertainment centers. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. According to Oomba, it will use the buy of GameWorks to bring its vision for location-based e-sports and VR experience to locations across America and beyond.

SpaceX Takes Hyperloop Pod To 220mph

SpaceX has demonstrated speeds of 220mph (355 km/h) using its "pusher pod", according to Elon Musk, just days after students in the Hyperloop Pod Competition took one of their own pods up to a record of 201 mph earlier this week. According to Musk, he expects that the company will be able to take the pods up to 500 km/h, or half the speed of sound, with just a few modifications to the company's design.
