Lizzie Francis will join the company as Chief Operating Officer, coming from Brilliant Ventures where she will remain a managing partner. Irvine-based Cylance , which develops endpoint security software, said on Tuesday that it has raised $120M more in a funding round, for its artificial intelligence-powered software. The company said the funding was led by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities, and also included other investors. Cylance, led by Cylance CEO Stuart McClure, says it had over $130M in annual revenues for its fiscal year 2018, and saw 90% year-over-year growth.

Irvine-based CTC Global , a manufacturer of a carbon fiber composite cores used in power line conductors, has named Gabriel Tashjian as its Chief Operating Officer. Tashjian was previously at General Electric, service as GE's corporate Digital Transformation Leader for Customer Experience. Crowdstrike , the cloud cybersecurity software developer led by George Kurtz, has raised a huge, $200M funding round, which values the company at more than $3 billion. The company--started in Irvine, where most of it operations are, but which now officially says is is headquartered in Sunnyvale--said the funding was led by General Atlantic, Accel and IVP, with participation from March Capital and CapitalG.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals , a biotechnology company that develops treatments for cystic fibrosis (CF) and other diseases, has opened up a new, 170,000 square foot facility in Torrey Pines, San Diego. According to Vertex, its new facility is a "significant expansion" of its presence in the area. Vertex said the site is one of its three global research hubs, where the company's three breakthrough cystic fibrosis (CF) medicines were discovered.
