Virgin Galactic Launches Ninth Test Flight

Virgin Galactic , the space travel and tourism startup backed by Sir Richard Branson, successfully launched its ninth test flight on Thursday in Mojave, as the company continues to prepare to take passengers into space. Virgin Galactic said the latest flight, piloted by Dave Mackay and CJ Sturckow, focused on taking more weight than its prior test flights, with around 1000lbs of water on the rear of the spaceship's fuselage.

AeroVironment Wins $36.5M Deal With Australian Defence Force

Monrovia, California-based unmanned aircraft maker Aerovironment reports that it has been selected by the Australia Defence Force, for a contract worth up to $36.5M. AeroVironment said the Australia Defence Force will use its Wasp AE systems for all environment, situational awareness. The three-year contract includes delivery of Wasp AE systems, training, and logistics support for up to ten years.
