Boring Company Wires Massive Tunnel Digging Machine To Game Controller

In a move that will surprise no one who is familiar with the antics of Elon Musk , Musks's tunnel-digging-and-transportation-system company The Boring Company has wired its tunnel digging machines to a rather unexpected controller: an Xbox controller. In a video released by the company over the weekend entitled "Best video game ever", The Boring Company shows its tunneling machines controlled using the ubiquitous game controllers, rather than any sophisticated custom equipment.

SAIC Buys Engility For $2.5 Billion In Stock

SAIC , the defense technology integrator with major operations in San Diego, and fellow defense integrator Engility Holdings , based in Chantilly, Virginia, said today that SAIC is acquiring Engility for $2.5 billion in an all-stock transaction. The deal includes assumption of $900M in Engility's debt. The two said the merger will create the second largest independent technology integrator in government services, with $6.5 million of pro-forma 12 month revenues.

Shamrock Capital Backs Pixellot In $30M Funding

Los Angeles-based private equity investor Shamrock Capital reports this morning that it has led a $30M investment in Pixellot , an Israeli firm developing automatic, artificial intelligence-driven software for producing streaming sports video. The funding was led by Shamrock, and also included other, existing, un-named investors. Pixellot has now raised more than $40M in funding.

Veritone Buys AI Developer Machine Box For Up To $5.0M

Costa Mesa-based Veritone , which develops artificial intelligence software, said today that it has acquired Machine Box , a developer of machine learning technology. The deal was worth approximately $5.0M, including $2.0M upfront plus up to $3.0M in earn out, split between Veritone stock and cash. Veritone said the deal will help add a range of "cognitive engines" to its offerings, including face and object recognition, text analytics, data classification and personalized recommendation.

Hawthorne-based SpaceX successfully delivered another payload into space in the early hours of the morning, from Cape Canaveral Air Force Base. SpaceX launched the satellite payload at 12:45 a.m. EDT from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40), deploying the satellite into Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO) approximately 32 minutes after its liftoff from Florida.
