‘Socially Inept,’ a comedy startup founded by Microsoft employees, roasts tech bros

Everyone gets a kick out of mocking the quintessential San Francisco techie, Patagonia vest and all. ‘ Socially Inept ,’ a new traveling comedy cohort, is making a business out of it. The group has been roasting the tech scene in hubs across the U.S., including Seattle, where the company is based, as well as Los Angeles, Austin and San Francisco, since last summer. It’s made out of current and former techies themselves.

Paul Getty Trust, Lee will begin a four year term as chair of the Board on July 1st; Lee has been on the J. Paul Getty Trust board since 2009.

Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne Technologies has acquired the gas and flame detection business of 3M , in a deal worth $230M in cash, the company announced early this morning. According to Teledyne, the deal includes the Oldham, Simtronics, Gas Measurement Instruments (GMI), Detcon and select Scott Safety products, which had been part of the gas and flame detection business of 3M.

Santa Monica-based SMS marketing software developer EZ Texting says it has added Allison Checchi, the Chief Operating Officer of Atom Tickets, to its board of direcftors. Checchi was promoted to Chief Marketing Officer of Atom Tickets in 2017, and previously worked as Chief Marketing Officer at YP, in addition to serving at Bain & Company. According to EZ Texting, Checci will be the second independent member of its board of directors.

Mapp Acquires Marketing Analytics Developer Webtrekk

San Diego-based Mapp , a developer of cloud-based digital marketing software, has completed its acquisition of European marketing analytics software developer Webtrekk , the company said this morning. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Webtrekk was based in Berlin, and has other offices in Italy and Spain.
