NVCA: Venture Investments Drop In Q1

Venture capital investments in the U.S. have dropped to the lowest rate of activity since Q4 of 2011, as venture capital investors continue to be shy about investing in startups, according to the latest PitchBook-NVCA Venture Monitor report. According to the report, there was $16.5 billion deployed to 1,797 companies nationaly in the first quarter of the year.

Rubicon Project Plans Video Header Bidding Rollout In Q2

Los Angeles-based online advertising exchange operator Rubicon Project said on Thursday that it plans to roll out its new video header bidding offering, FastLane for Video, in the second quarter. The company said the plan comes after what it called "early success" in beta testing with multiple video publishers. The company claimed "double-digit" percent CPM rate increases among its beta publishers for the tool.

Qantas Debuts First ViaSat Powered Wi-Fi Flight

Carlsbad-based ViaSat said this morning that it is powering the new gate-to-gate, in-flight Wi-Fi service for Qantas , in a partnership with Australian broadband network provider nbn. Qantas announced its new in-flight Wi-Fi service this morning on its first, domestic Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The single plane is a beta test for production rollout on that aircraft, and eventually, wider rollout to its fleet.
