CapLinked Launches New Product

Los Angeles-based CapLinked , the developer of secure document sharing software led by Eric Jackson, said this morning that it has released a new set of Information Security (InfoSec) tools, aimed at helping companies to protect information they are sharing with external parties. The company said the new software, which is based on software application programming interface (API), let enterprises develop their own, custom software to manage and track access to files send to external parties.

PacketSled CEO Resigns After Election Night Rant

San Diego-based cybersecurity software developer PacketSled announced on Tuesday that it has accepted the resignation of its President and CEO, Matt Harrigan, and has named CTO Fred Wilmot as interim CEO of the company. The resignation came after an election night rant where Harrigan threatened to shoot the new President-Elect, on Facebook. Those threats--involving comments on using a sniper rifle--were reported to the Secret Service.

Mavenlink Raises $39M From Goldman Sachs

Irvine-based software developer Mavenlink announced this morning that it has raised $39M in a funding round from Goldman Sachs, as part of a Series D funding round. Mavenlink develops software used for work planning, managing projects, and financials, and working with and managing teams. The company, led by CEO Ray Grainger, says it has now raised a total of $84M in funding.

Western Digital Rolls Out Scale Out Storage

Irvine-based Western Digital has rolled out a new data storage product aimed at the scaling out cloud and enterprise market, the company said Tuesday. The company said it has released a new "plug-and-play" object storage system called the ActiveScale P100, intended to scale out capacity to the petabytes. The company said the system can scale from 720TB to 19PB of raw capacity, and is aimed at the life sciences, government/defense, and media and entertainment industry applications.

Cohu Buys Spring Probe Company

Poway-based Cohu said late Tuesday that it has agreed to acquire Kita Manufacturing Co LTD , a Japanese companies that develops products used in electronics manufacturing. Cohua said it would pay $15M in cash for Kita, funded out of its cash reserves and through assumption of operating debt of $2.6M net of cash acquired. The company said Kita had current year sales of estimated $17M.
