Jstar, the creators of Joshai , a voice activated home assistant, has raised $11M in funding, according to the company. The company has offices in Los Angeles, and is led by longtime LA serial entrepreneur Alex Capecelatro. Source of the funding was not announced. Capecelatro previously founded Yeti and AtThePool. Josh.ai was co-founded by CTO Tim Gill, who was founder of Quark, Inc.

Troubled electric car maker Faraday Future has halted its plans to build a factory in Las Vegas, due to a cash crunch, according to a report from local Nevada news sources. According to the report, Faraday Future has decided to "put a hold on" its factory in Nevada, where it had planneds to spend $1 billion on creating a 3 million square foot megafactory that Faraday Future claimed would create more than 13,000 jobs in Nevada.

Irvine-based videogame publisher Blizzard Entertainment said last week that it is rolling out a new expansion to its Hearthstone digital card came. Blizzard said its new expansion, Knights of the Frozen Throne , will roll out in August. The expansion pack will run on Windows and Mac PCs, plus iOS and Android tablets and mobile phones; Blizzard said it will be providing a pre-launch "card pack" for $49.99.

City Of Industry-based Yamibuy , an online e-commerce startup selling Asian snacks, cookies, candy, instant food, tea, and more, aimed at Asian American consumers, has raised $10M in a Series A funding, the company said on Monday. The funding was led by GGV Capital, and also included New Oriental Education & Technology Group and K2VC. The startup, led by founder and CEO Alex Zhou, said that Hans Tung of GGV Capital has joined the company's board.

Irvine-based cybersecurity software developer CrowdStrike said on Monday that it has named Matthew Polly as Vice President of Worldwide Business Development and Channels. According to CrowdStrike, Polly joins from AppDynamics, where he served as Vice President, Worldwide Alliances and Business Development, before its acquisition by Cisco. CrowdStrike provides endpoint protection software for the enterprise.

San Diego-based ChiroTouch , a developer of electronic health records and practice management software for the chiropractic market, has raised a round of private equity funding. The funding came from Waud Capital Partners. Size of the funding was not announced. According to the companies, George Ahn, Operating Executive at Waud Capital, has become ChiroTouch's new CEO, and has also joined the company's board as Vice Chairman.

According to IOGEAR, its GTD733 Thunderbolt 3 Quantum Docking Station features two USB-A ports, one USB-C port, audio input and output jacks, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and support for external 4K and 5K monitors.

San Diego-based Inseego announced a customer win in Austria for its fleet management products, the company said this morning. Inseego said the Red Cross Rescue Service in Tyrol, Austria has signed a five year contract for its fleet management, software-as-a-service solution for its rescue vehicles. Financial impact of the win was not announced. The win came from Inseego's Ctrack unit.

Lake Forest-based, in-flight wireless connectivity provider Panasonic Aviation said this morning that it has teamed up with Eutelsat and Hunter Communications, to extend its capacity over Canada. Financial details of the deal were not announced. Panasonic said the deal expands a multi-transponder contract on the EUTELSAT 115 West B satellite. Panasonic said the deal will help expand connectivity for domestic flights inside Canada, from Newfoundland to the Yukon.

TP Therapeutics, which raised $45 million in May to advance its work on drug-resistant cancers, raised the most venture capital in San Diego County during the three months that ended June 30, according to regional data released today. Altogether, venture firms invested a total of $406.4 million in San Diego companies during the second quarter, according to data from the Venture Monitor report from Seattle-based PitchBook and the National Venture Capital Association.

U.S. venture capital investments are showing more signs of returning to steady levels. Investors pumped $21.78 billion into 1,958 companies in the second quarter, according to data from the quarterly Venture Monitor report from Seattle-based PitchBook and the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA). The number of deals was roughly the same as in the first quarter of the year, but the total dollar amount grew 36 percent from the nearly $16 billion invested in the previous quarter.
