El Segundo-based PCM , which provides information technology products to the business, government, and education markets, said very late Wednesday evening that it has acquired Provista Technology Services Ltd. and its subsidiary, Provista UK Ltd. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. PCM said it made the acquisition through its UK-based subsidiary, PCM Technology Solutions UK, Ltd.

LA Startup's Talking Tattoo Technology Goes Viral, Again

A video of a "talking tattoo", powered by Los Angeles area startup Skin Motion , has gone viral --at least the second big viral breakout of a demonstration of the company's technology. The video, posted by 19-year old Sakyrah Angelique, shows her phone playing a voicemail based on the waveform tattoed over her heart of her (now deceased) grandmother.

GameMine Teams With Nickelodeon

Los Angeles-based mobile games startup GameMine said on Wednesday that it has expanded a partnership with Nickelodeon, the subsidiary of Viacom, and will distribute a line of Nickelodeon mobile games to Swisscom, Moviestar, Orange, A1, and Vodafone in the countries of Switzerland, Spain, Austria, France, Portugal, Belgium, and Poland. GameMine said the new games features such characters as SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Nick Sports.

DermTech Gets Approval In Canada

La Jolla-based molecular dermatology treatment developer DermTech announced this morning that its Canadian subsidiary, DermTech Canada, has received approval from Health Canada to market its Pigmented Lesions Assay (PLA) and non-invasive biopsy kit for the detection of melanoma in Canada. DermTech said it will process samples at DermTech's laboratory in La Jolla.

Los Angeles-based eHarmony in under fire in the United Kingdom, for its use of the phrase "scientifically proven" in its advertising, according to a report today. According to the BBC, the UK's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has called eHarmony's advertisements in the country "misleading", saying eHarmony's service has not undergone scientifically vetted studies.
