Sonos Releases iPad App

Santa Barbara-based Sonos , the developer of the Sonos wireless, multi-room music systems, said Wednesday that it has released its Apple iPad application. The application--which users had been eagerly awaiting, particularly since a slip of its release date in August--is available for free on the iTunes App Store. The Sonos Controller for iPad allows owners of Sonos equipment to control that equipment using the iPad's touch screen.

Cornerstone OnDemand Files For IPO

In what looks to be a banner year for IPO filings for Southern California, Santa Monica-based Cornerstone OnDemand filed for an IPO this morning, saying that it is looking to raise up to $115M in an IPO. The firm has not yet specified an exchange it plans to list on. The IPO is being underwritten by Goldman, Sachs & Co., Barclays Capital, William Blair & Company, Piper Jaffray, Pacific Crest Securities, and JMP Securities.

Predixion Software Adds $3M

According to a report today from VentureWire, Aliso Viejo-based Predixion Software has added $3M to the firm's Series A funding round, from Palomar Ventures. Predixion is developing data mining and analytics software, and is headed by Simon Arkell, formerly of Triton Pacific Capital Partners and Gramercy Ventures. Qualcomm Expands Efforts in Africa

San Diego-based Qualcomm said yesterday that it has opened up a new office in Lagos, Nigeria, which will serve as a hub for the firm's West Africa business operations. According to Qualcomm, the office will serve mobile operators and device manufacturers serving Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Cameroon. The new office is for QCOM Wireless Technologies Limited, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm.

TigerText Gets $1.9M

Santa Monica-based TigerText , a new startup focused on mobile messaging applications, said Tuesday evening that it has raised $1.9M in an angel funding round. The round came from Silicon Valley investors Herb Madan and Randall Kaplan. Kaplan is co-founder of Akamai Technologies, and Madan has joined the company's board of directors. TigerText said it is developing mobile applications aimed at creating a secure way to send mobile messages, as a resplacement to SMS.
