Santa Barbara-based Make It Work , the provider of in-home and on-site technical support and services headed by Eric Greenspan, said today that it has inked a deal to offer up its services for sale at Costco Wholesale Corporation locations in Southern California. According to the firm, it is in an initial pilot rollout within 20 Southern California Costco locations, in Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

Los Angeles-based US Renewables Group , the private equity firm focused on renewable energy, said Wednesday that it is investing $344M in what it says is the largest residential solar project in U.S. history. The firm said it is financing a project, led by SolarCity, to install solar panels on military housing across the United States. The funding comes in the form of debt, via USRG Renewable Finance.

Los Angeles-based BackAtYou.com , a new startup headed by former SodaHead.com founder Michael Glazer, launched itself Wednesday, saying it is providing a self-service platform to help business owners and marketers to create, launch, and analyze social media marketing campaigns and promotions. Tustin-based Uptake Medical , the developer of a minimally invasive treatment for severe emphysema, announced today that it has named Lloyd Mencinger as its European General Manager. Mencinger most recently served at Tenent Healthcare, and also has served at Boston Scientific, Baxter, and American Hospital Supply. Manhattan Beach-based Morphlabs , the developer of cloud infrastructure equipment and software headed by Winston Damarillo, said Thursday that it has linked with data center, hosting, and service providers Globe Telecom, Pratesis and Exist Global. All three serve the Southeast Asian market. According to Morphlabs, all of the firms are using its mCloud Data Center Unit (DCU) to provide dynamic infrastructure to their market.

They approach key potential investors way too early, trying to talk their way up the hill, with no supporting business plan, and before they have a support team around them. Santa Monica-based TrueCar , the automotive pricing website headed by Scott Painter, said this morning that it has raised $200M in new debt and equity financing, plus acquired a company. TrueCar said the financng round included USAA, Capricorn Investment Group and GRP Partners, all existing investors in the firm. TrueCar said the funding was structured as a one-for-one conversion from preferred stock to common stock.

Burbank-based MeFeedia , the online video guide site headed by Frank Sinton, said today that it has launched both iPhone and Android apps. The firm said the new apps allow users to find favorite videos, linking to such sources as YouTube, Dailymotion, and Vimeo. The new apps run on the iPhone and iPod Touch, and the Android. All of the apps are free.

San Diego-based Slacker , the personalized Internet radio service, has inked a deal with an automotive audio device from electronics firm HARMAN , the two firms announced Thursday. The two said that Aha by HARMAN and Slacker are in a partnership, which will bring Slacker's personal radio and on-demand music services into cars.
