Los Angeles-based Tango, which develops browser extensions to provide "how-to" guides, has named a new VP. According to the company, it has appointed Nick Wentz as its first Head of Marketing. Wentz was most recently VP of Marketing at Clearbit. The company said Wentz will focus on expanding existing acquisition channels, and introduce new ones.

BlackLine Rolls Out New Product

Los Angeles-based BlackLine said on Tuesday that it has launched a new capability to its software, to provide what it calls "hyperautomation" of taxes for intercompany financial management. The company said its new capabilities are designed to help multinational corporations navigate the complexities of transacting across multiple legal entities, billing routes and jurisdictional boundaries. The company did not say how much the new capabilities cost.

Jurny Aims Product At Boutique Hotels

Los Angeles-based software developer Jurny said this morning that it has launched a new product specifically for helping boutique hotels and short-term rental operators manage their operations. According to the company, it has rolled out what it calls an "all-in-one Management Operating System", which it says consolidates the tech stack and operations of boutique hotels and short term rentals. Jurny is backed with $12.5M in funding from Mucker Capital and Okapi Venture Capital.

Tetra Tech Acquires RPS Group

Pasadena-based consulting and engineering services provider Tetra Tech announced last week that it has agreed to acquire RPS Group plc, a UK-based company providing consulting services. Tetra Tech says it will pay 222 pence per share of RPS Group. Sonendo Gets $63M In Private Placement

Laguna Hills-based Sonendo, the dental technology developer which trades on the NYSE as SONX, said last week that it raised $63M in a private placement. The funding came from Pura Vida Investments, First Light Asset Management, Blue Water Life Science Advisors, ArrowMark Partners, Driehaus Capital Management, and JMR Capital. Sonendo develops the GentleWave System, which treats tooth decay by cleaning and disinfecting teeth. Sonendo had its IPO back in 2021.

SpaceX Eyes Starlink Deployment On Rural School Buses

Hawthorne, California-based SpaceX is considering deploying its Starlink satellite Internet on rural school buses, to allow students to have high speed connections on lengthy rides from home, according to a report. Engadget said the project came to light via an FCC filing. E3 Returning To LA

In a move that will please both videogame companies in Los Angeles, as well as players and fans, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) said today that E3 will be returning to Los Angeles in 2023. According to the ESA and event production company ReedPop, the event will run in June of 2023. ReedPop is behind such events as PAX, New York Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration, and other events.
