NGD Systems Gains Two New Patents

Irvine-based NGD Systems reported this morning that it has received two new patents for its solid state drive (SSD) technology. Both patents were developed by Vladimir Alves, the company's Chief Technology Officer, and Joao Alcantara. The company says it now has 14 patents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. U.S. Patent 9,448,745 was granted on September 20th, and had been filed on March 13, 2014; patnet 9,454,551 was also filed on March 13, 2014, and granted on September 27th.

Broadcom Limited , the network semiconductor giant which is a mashup of Broadcom and Avago Technologies, said this morning that it has acquired Brocade Communications Systems , the developer of Fibre Channel switching technology, for $5.9 billion.
