Los Angeles-based Loot Crate has scored first place in the annual Deloitte Technology Fast 500 , the annual ranking of the fastest growing technology companies in the United States by accounting firm Deloitte. Los Angeles-based next generation transportation technology developer Hyperloop One said Friday that it has settled a lawsuit filed by former CTO Brogan BamBrogan and three others. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed. BamBrogan and three other former employees had filed suit against Hyperloop One--as well as a number of board members-- in July, and Hyperloop One had filed its own countersuit against BamBrogan for $250M.

Uncertainty surrounding this year’s presidential election has kept U.S. IPO activity at a sluggish pace—so sluggish, in fact, that this year could end with the fewest IPOs and the lowest level of capital raised since 2009, according to PitchBook data for the first nine months of 2016. But this is no time to trash talk the IPO market, according to Kathleen Smith of Renaissance Capital , a Greenwich, CT, firm that manages IPO-focused Exchange Traded Funds.

NASA announced late Tuesday that it has selected Hawthorne-based Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) , for a $112M mission to launch a water survey mission to space in April of 2021. According to NASA, SpaceX will provide launch services for the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission, which is expected to launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base, north of Lompoc.

Hyperloop One has settled a breach of fiduciary lawsuit brought by Brogan BamBrogan, its former chief technology officer and co-founder, and three other employees, the Business Journal reports. In a complaint filed July in Los Angeles Superior Court, BamBrogan claimed he was fire after he was critical of Hyperloop One Board Chairman Shervin Pishevar’s management of the company, whose behavior he claimed was tantamount to a breach of fiduciary duty.

San Diego-based biotech company Genalyte said this morning that it has raised $36M in a new funding round, for its efforts to develop a microchip-based testing platform. San Diego-based biopharmaceuticals developer Mast Therapeutics announced this morning that it is evaluating "strategic opportunities", and is considering a reverse merger, licensing of its assets, as well as continued clinical development of its lead compound. The company said it received "several written indications of interest" from private held companies in terms of a reverse merger.

Los Angeles-based software developer Bridg said this week that it has launched a new customer relationship management (CRM) software product specifically aimed at restaurants. According to the company, it is using information from point-of-sale (POS), email, loyalty, online ordering, and other areas to help give restaurants a single, unified view of their individual customers, and helps those restaurants identify growth opportunities based on that data.

The company--which says it had raised a total of $2M--had only launched its platform into beta in March of last year. The company said it is shutting down "in light of the rising costs" associated with the company's growth.

San Diego-based real time operating systems developer Express Logic announced this week that it has opened up a brand new sales office, about 25 miles outside of Boston. San Diego-based Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS), a unit of systems integrator Cubic Corporation, says it has received a $4.8M contract modification from the Maryland Transit Administration. Cubic said the contract covers an upgrade of the MTA's Automated Fare Collection (AFC) system, including additions to allow the system to accept mobile payments.

The Dexcom One Step Ahead Foundation , a new employee foundation run by employees of medical equipment products maker Dexcom said it has awarded the first grants out of the brand new foundation, to five public charity organizations. The foundation said the grants range from $10,000 to $50,000, and go to projects aimed at producing the most sustained benefits to the health and quality- of-life for people living with diabetes.

Venice, California-based Snapchat is continuing to deploy its Snapbot automated vending machines for its Spectacles across the country, and is currently in New York City, after trips to the Rose Bowl and the Grand Canyon over the weekend. The location in New York City is the first time the "bot" has showed up on the East Coast. Snapchat is moving its Spectacles "Snapbot" vending machine everyday, only letting people find those vending machines on the day that they appear.

Santa Barbara-based real estate management software developer Yardi reports a customer win in Vancouver, British Columbia, saying that it has signed up Wesgroup Properties to its web-based property management and accounting platform. The financial impact of the win was not announced. Yardi said Wesgroup Properties is using its Yardi Voyager 7S software, and was already a Yardi client.

Calabasas-based network testing hardware and software developer Ixia , and test equipment developer Anritsu A/S said this morning that the two have completed a proof-of-concept deployment for O2 Czech Republic. The company said the proof of concept provided Network Function Virtualization (NFV) monitoring, to help O2 Czech Republic with service level agreement (SLA) monitoring for its customers in virtualized environments.

San Diego-based biotherapeutics developer aTyr Pharma announced this morning that it has received a $20M credit facility. The credit facility came from Silicon Valley Bank and Solar Capital Ltd. Terms of that credit facility were not announced. The company said it will use the funding to pay off existing indebtedness and for general corporate purposes. aTyr Pharma is developing therapeutics addresses severe and rare diseases related to muscular dystrophy and other areas.
