No matter how much it bothers you, people do like to entertain themselves with a “lean back” experience. And we like to be entertained. You can’t replace this stuff with Java. But here’s what Silicon Valley doesn’t get about Hollywood. As humans we like story telling.

Part of the reason is that when I look at the CTOs, we see that the industries (games, entertainment, aerospace, retail, etc.), Most networking events tend to either focus on specific technologies (PHP,Net, C#, Microsoft, LAMP, MySQL, Open Source, Hadoop, Java, etc.) or focused on industry or type of company.
