Santa Monica-based KIN , which operates a female-focused lifestyle YouTube network, has raised $12M in a funding round, the company said last week. The funding came from Corus Entertainment, Emil Capital, Mayfield Fund, General Catalyst Partners and Rustic Canyon Partners. The company is led by Michael Wayne.

LA City Council Member Eric Garcetti will give the opening keynote for the inaugural Silicon Beach Fest , a celebration of digital innovators in startups and entertainment happening June 21 – 23. The moniker Silicon Beach refers to the technology scene in Los Angeles concentrated around the areas of Santa Monica and Venice.
