These days, it's not unusual for a handful of tech and startup mixers and events to be going down on the westside. High-end hors d'oeuvres, an open bar with top-shelf liquor and little entertainments throughout the event. Set on the corner of Main street at Windward Circle, it positions itself in the heart of Venice.

In a sign of the growth of the Silicon Beach technology world, last year, Google moved its headquarters out of a space on Arizona Avenue in Santa Monica, and into a new fancy headquarters space in Venice. We find that events are kind of the glue that sticks that all together. We also hackathons and other events.

The mobile app and website that allows people to capture and share images and videos of events through social media. The idea for the app is to see events through the eyes of the audience. But the news events were hard to keep up with, so we decided to cover locally and focus on events near LA.

The biggest news for Digital LA this year has been creating and spearheading Silicon Beach Fest, LA's first startup entertainment community festival in Santa Monica and Venice in June, 2012. In addition to Silicon Beach Fest, we also held Digital LA events at Sundance, SXSW, E3, Comic-Con, and in London during the Olympics.
