That sounds a lot like Meebo, but what we've done is combine interoperable IM with email. I helped build out the advertising sales model there, and then helped found a company based out of Redmond called InfoSpace. We pull your Yahoo, business accounts, Gmail, and other accounts and pull them into Orgoo. active email accounts.

It was obviously a scheme set up by young entrepreneurs to line their pockets and some big-company executives who didn’t understand innovation. Third-Party Tools Will Embed Social Features in Websites: Meebo. This will take a few years but players such as Meebo are already innovating in this category though their toolbar.
