All of our mechanics are employees of RepairSmith, and are trained, provided with a brand new Mercedes Benz van, with all the latest tools, scanners, and equipment. You cant just hire someone who show up with a bag of tools in their trunk, because you have a hard time doing a lot of the repairs needed on modern cars.

The firm was incubated with the founder's own cash--the other founder is my father. Unfortunately, that firm's partners had a falling out.

ABC has even created an incubator-style program in which startup non-profits compete for $100,000 in seed funding. Sound Organization: financially healthy and operationally viable, with strong funder relationships, well-trained staff and reliable systems and infrastructure. The entrepreneurs in startups are trained to go fast and run lean. I’ve been spending some time at LaunchPad and Amplfy, and some of the best startups in LA are at those incubators. With the VC ranks shrinking, founders need to tap every source of capital out there. The conflict is built in. The problem will get solved.

There's no formal business training to be an entrepreneur, and some of what you learn is from the ambient environment, being near people and watching people solve problems they're facing.
