Soraa Launches PAR20 Lamp

Soraa , the LED lighting company which is using technology developed by UCSB inventor Shuji Nakamura, has rolled out a new LED lamp product in the common PAR20 format. Soraa--which has operations in Goleta, but does its manufacturing in Fremont--said its new LED lamp is 85% more energy efficient than standard, halogen lamps.

Soraa, which was started in Goleta, said its Soraa LED MR16 lamp is intended as a replacement for traditional, halogen MR16 bulbs. Pricing on the LED lamps has not been released.

IKEA Starts Selling Sonos Speakers

IKEA has started selling a new line of speakers it devleoped in conjunction with Santa Barbara-based Sonos this week, including an oddly shaped, dual "speaker lamp", the SYMFONISK. According to IKEA, the new lamp is the "best sounding lamp in the world" and combines both a smart, Wi-Fi speaker and a light.
