Report: Redpoint's Martin Leaving Firm

Greg Martin , the partner heading up Redpoint Ventures ' Los Angeles office, has reportedly left the firm, according to a report from the Private Equity Insider. Martin is no longer listed on Redpoint's web site, was not listed in its latest fundraising documents, and declined to comment on the story. Martin had actually disappeared from Redpoint's site in February, when Redpoint announced it had closed its $400M, Redpoint IV early stage venture capital firm.

Chill is venture backed by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Redpoint Ventures, Atlas Venture, and CrunchFund. Chill allows users to view, chat, and comment on live video streams via social rooms, complete with avatars representing users.

BetterWorks Gets $8M

According to the firm, the round was led by Redpoint Ventures, and will go towards hiring, expansion, and continued development of its platform. As part of the funding, Redpoint's Satish Dharmaraj joins the company's board of directors.

Topspin Ties With MTV On Artists.MTV

Los Angeles-based Topspin and MTV said Thursday at SXSW that the two are in a new partnership, on a new initiative called Artists.MTV. Topspin, which is led by Ian Rogers, the former GM of Yahoo Music, is venture backed by Redpoint Ventures and The Foundry Group. The new project taps Topspin's marketing platform, to provide artists with pages on MTV with ways to connect with fans, and allows fans to buy music, merchandise, and tickets.

Los Angeles-based SVnetwork (SocialVibe) said today that it has named Larry Lieberman as Chief Marketing Officer at the social advertising firm. Lieberman has previously served at firms Aniboom, Virgin Comics, Virgin Animation, Comedy Central, Warner Music Group, and MTV.
