Newegg Jumps Into Online Flower Delivery

Los Angeles-based electronics products retailer Newegg has--suprisingly--thrown its hat into the online flower delivery market for Mother's Day, saying it will offer up a way for its customers to send flowers for Mother's Day, after a online flower delivery test earlier this year. The company says it is shipping flowers from a location in Northern California. Newegg admits the move may puzzle some of its longtime customers--in its release announcing its move into flowers, the company says that "online flower delivery may seem like an unlikely fit for Newegg", but argues its preferred shipping rates and efficiency of scale--plus brand name--makes sense. The company says the existing floral business "lacks the infrastructure and reach to deliver value to customers at scale."
