Christie Street Expands Into Patent Filing

Los Angeles-based Christie Street , the online crowdfunding site aimed at hardware projects which is based in Los Angeles, has expanded into patent filing, the company said today. The firm said it will offer up a simple, cost-effective way to file patents, in a deal with legal firm White & Williams LLP. The company said that at a cost of just $8,000, the service will let inventors file patents, providing drafting and filing of patent applications for inventors.

Irvine-based Local.com , which operates a network of local business search sites, disclosed this morning that it has gained a U.S. patent. The firm said that it was awarded patent 7,596,218 by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on September 29th, covering a system for maintaining a dynamic index for a telephone directory assistance system. The patent names William A. Local.com was represented by Van Pelt, Yi & James LLP in the patent application.
