I recently wrote a post on angel financing covering the topic of convertible notes but I realized I was thinking about the issue more from investor perspective and a very narrow topic of how to price the round. Product : You should build a product or a prototype. Great companies are built by having great products.

In 2014, a West Point buddy of mine, and also a serial entrepreneur, Craig Cummings started working together to find entrepreneurs we liked, to help them an invest in them, along with Luis Villalobos of the Tech Coast Angels. That really helps to catalyze the process for entrepreneurs, and helps to get others involved.

What are GridTest's products used for? Our product has gone to China, Taiwan, Australia, and Europe. Instead, I found some early, lead investors from the Pasadena Angels, who connected me with the Tech Coast Angels and Maverick Angels. They all have slightly different connectors and standards.

We also pitched at the finals of the Tech Coast Angels Fast Pitch, and got a very warm reception there. There were lots of people very intent on the execution of the product, really looking into the details of design and flow. That gift of livestock can help families out of extreme poverty.
