Last week, Los Angeles-based Stroome (www.stroome.com), a new startup originally spawned out of a project at the USC Annenberg School of Communications, won $200,000 in the 2010 Knight News Challenge. Tom Grasty: Essentially, we started off as a graduate school project at USC. A few months later, we won the USC New Venture Competition.

While we have become more productive as a society, with the advent of computers aiding our work, physical inactivity has become a high risk factor in contributing to chronic illnesses. It is built out of 5 years of research at USC. This was run out of USC? It could be a lot worse than just comfort.

I started writing, doing production, and wrote a winning student short, and also worked at Creative Artist in film distribution and sales.
