Blogging is an important way to build an audience and also drive SEO traffic. Much of my traffic is through referring websites and/or social media. Standalone URI shorteners work fine when you want to shorten mostly foreign URIs, but that’s a crappy approach when you want to submit your own stuff to social media. Because you throw away the ability to totally control your traffic from social media, and search engine traffic generated by social media as well.
