Disney Shutters Parenting Blog Site, Babble

Burbank-based Disney has shut down parent blog site Babble, according to the site, which did not say why it was shutting down. Disney had owned Babble since 2011. The site had originally been founded in 2006 by Rufus Griscom and Alisa Volkman, covering topics around parenting and raising children. Disney had paid $40M for Babble in 2011, one of a number of parenting sites acquired in the era by Disney Interactive. The site is not the first in the sector shut down by Disney; Kaboose, another parenting blog site, was acquired by Disney in 2009 for CAD $23.3M, but was shut down sometime sometime in 2016.
