Intellisense Spins Out Of Physical Optics Corporation

Torrance-based Physical Optics Corporation (POC), a military, defense, and security integrator, said this morning that it has spun off a new company called Intellisense Systems, Inc.. According to POC, Intellisense Systems will also be based in Torrance, and will employ 83 people, with $24M in revenues. Intellisense said it will engineer, design, develop, test and produce sensor systems and optoelectronic solutions for the U.S. Government and commercial markets. The company's flagship product is the MWS – Micro Weather Sensor that delivers localized weather conditions from anywhere in the world. According to Physical Optics Corporation, it expects Intellinse to hire an additional 25 people in 2018, bringing its total employees to 100. Intellisense will be led by newly appointed President and COO, Frank Willis. POC is led by Chairman and CEO Joanna Jannson.
