TrueCar Retreats From NRA Affiliation
Santa Monica-based TrueCar has withdrawn its affiliation with the National Rifle Association (NRA), one of a number of brands which have stepped away from their commercial affiliations with the group in the wake of the slaying of 17 students in Parkland, Florida. TrueCar joins a long list of companies which have cut off ties with the gun advocacy group, including Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Enterprise, Hertz, Alamo, MetLife, First National Bank of Omaha. The NRA accused the brands of "political and civic cowardice" for their move to distance themselves from the NRA, which has--despite a growing body count due to mass killings in schools across the nation--refuses to back any kind of restriction on gun ownership.
TrueCar is ending its car buying service relationship with the NRA effective February 28, 2018.
