Salesforce.com's Benioff, Wife, Give $20M To USC For Cancer Research

Salesforce.com founder and CEO Marc Benioff, and his wife, Lynne, have given $20M in a gift to the University of Southern California, to go towards cancer research, the school said late Thursday. According to the school, the funding will go towards construction of the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine of USC. As part of the deal, the lobby of the new cancer institute will be named in honor of Benioff's late father, Russell Benioff. Benioff has been a member of USC's Board of Trustees since 2010, and has a Bachelor's in Business Administration from the USC Marshall School of Business. Oracle's Larry Ellison gave $200M in May to establish to cancer research center.
