Zynga Funds Effort At USC To Support Diversity In Video Game Industry

Social games developer Zynga has funded a new effort to increase the diversity in the video game development industry, through a partnership with the University of Southern California, Zynga said on Tuesday. According to Zynga, it has provided a "substantial gift" to USC's School of Cinematic ARts' Interactive Media & Games Division, to support diversity, inclusive game production, and the creation of "innovative social mobile gameplay." Zynga said the gift also sponsors panels and lectures covering issues in diversity and inclusion within the games industry, for the next three years. Zynga said its support will specifically fund a class on creating social mobile games using Zynga's design methodology, which will begin in the fall of 2017 and extend through the spring of 2020. In addition to the video game development efforts, Zynga also said it is working with USC's Marshall School of Business on a Product Management Bootcamp program for MBA candidates, with sessions on social game development covering Product Management fundamentals.
