Backstage Capital Launches New Startup Accelerator In LA

West Hollywood-based Backstage Capital, a venture capital investor which focuses on minorities--including women, People of Color, and LGBT founders, said recently that it has launched the Backstage Accelerator, a three month, startup accelerator which will provide in-person resources and support to its portfolio of companies. According to the investment firm, its accelerator--which will run in Los Angeles, Detroit, London, and Philadelphia--initially includes 25 companies. It's Los Angeles class includes six companies, including Adventurely, an app focused on solo travelers; Lacquerbar, which calls itself a "feminist focused salon experience"; Lorals, a company developing sex-related products; Optimal Solar, a developer of solar modules; Snapstays, a marketplace for business travelers; and Unomi, a software-as-a-service offering for animators and video game designers. Backstage Capital says it received over 1000 applications for the 25 spots at its accelerator.
