Canoo Aims At Subscription EVs, Hopes To Launch In 2021

A new, Los Angeles-based startup, Canoo, says it is hoping to launch a brand new, electric vehicle (EV) subscription service, which uses vehicles designed and built by the company. According to Canoo, it hopes to launch its subscription-only EV service starting in 2021, in Los Angeles. Canoo rolled out details on its vehicle on Tuesday, saying it had created an EV with "significantly more interior space" and which it called "an urban loft on wheels". The company's vehicle--also called the canoo--will have space to seat seven people. According to Canoo, it will offer up a commitment-free EV subscription for users on a monthly basis, with the company handling all of the issues such as registration, maintenance, insurance management and charging. The company is led by Ulrich Kranz.
