Slingshot Aerospace Names New CEO

El Segundo-based Slingshot Aerospace, which develops software which aggregates information from satellites, ground-based sensors, and more to help with situational awareness, has named Melanie Stricklan as its new CEO. Stricklan is one of the company's co-founders, and was most recently serving as Chief Strategy Officer. Stricklan previously served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years. According to the company, its current CEO, Daniel Godwin, will remain Chairman of the Board, and will now focus on corporate development, including fundraising, investor relations, strategic partnerships, and legal. Slingshot Aerospace said the switch up will allow it to become "laser-focused on space initiatives." Slingshot Aerospace is venture backed by ATX Venture Partners, Revolution's Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, Techstars Ventures, and Okapi Venture Capital, along with angels. The company has raised $17M in total funding, including an $8M round in October of 2020.
