Bird Tests Payment Feature In LA

Los Angeles-based on-demand scooter service operator Bird is taking a look at the local payment space, and is piloting a new service called Bird Pay, which lets its users pay for items at local businesses using their Bird app. According to Bird, the new payment feature was "created in direct response to requests from local businesses." The feature currently is being tested at a "select" few local businesses in LA and Santa Monica. Bird says its internal surveys show that businesses have found that "more riders on the street led to more traffic in stores". The new payment service can be accessed by scanning a QR code at those local businesses.
