GrayMatter Robotics Gets $1M From NSF

Los Angeles-based artificial intelligence and robotics startup GrayMatter Robotics said today that the company has received a $1M award from the National Science Foundation (NSF), via a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant. The company said the funding comes on top of the $4.1M in a seed funding round the company announced last week. The company said the award goes towards the development of Smart Robotic Cells for Surface Finishing & Treatment Applications on manufacturing lines. GrayMatter Robotics is led by co-founder and CEO Ariyan Kabir.
