VIZIO Links Into Apple AirPlay 2, HomeKit

Irvine-based smart television maker VIZIO says it is rolling out support for Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, including for smart TVs it built as far back as 2016. According to VIZIO, its VIZIO SmartCast 3.0 will provide backward compatibility for both new and existing SmartCast TVs dating back to 2016, providing backwards compatibility to Apple's new video, music, and photo streaming features. VIZIO said the upgrade will also allow its users to control its TVs using Apple's Home app or by asking Siri. VIZIO says its current lineup of 4K HDR smart TVs already support AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. The upgrades to those VIZIO TVs is a welcome move for consumers, who usually are stuck with whatever version of software might be loaded on their television when the purchased it.
