Modulim Names New CEO

Irvine-based Modulim, which develops optical imaging products used for noninvasive tissue assessment, said today that it has named Richard Oberreiter as its new CEO. Oberreiter has been the company's Chief Operations Officer (COO) since 2014, and replaces existing CEO David Cuccia, Ph.D., the company's founder, who remains as Chief Technical Officer. Modulim said Cuccia will now focus on efforts to take the company's technology into new areas and applications. Modulim said its technology,spatial frequency domain imaging (SFDI), combines structured illumination with multiple wavelengths of light (visible and near-infrared) to allow for deeper and layer-specific assessment of tissue oxygenation and hemoglobin.
