Blacksmith Medicines Merges With Forge Therapeutics

San Diego-based Blacksmith Medicines and Forge Therapeutics said Monday that the two companies are in a definitive merger agreement. Financial details of the merger were not announced. According to the two, they will focus on the development of medicines targeting a large class of proteins called metalloenzymes, with initial focus on oncology and infection. Blacksmith Medicines says it is backed by Evotec A.G., MagnaSci Ventures, MP Healthcare Partners, Alexandria Venture Investments, and Eli Lilly.
