TuSimple Axes 25 Percent Of Staff

San Diego-based self-driving truck technology developer TuSimple confirmed on Wednesday that the company is cutting 25 percent of its workforce, or approximately 350 people, as part of a restructuring effort at the company. The move comes as the company ended its deal with Navistar to build autonomous semis, a management shakeup, and other issues at the company. The company said it will have approximately 1,100 employees after the cuts. TuSimple said 80 percent of its remaining staff are in research and development, with "many of these are engineers critical to hardware and software resilience, reliability, safety, and information security." In addition to the cuts, TuSimple said it is continuing to seek strategic alternatives for its business in Asia.
