CalAmp Enables Electric Scooter Sharing Market With Telematics Tech

Irvine-based CalAmp, which develops telematics hardware and software used to track the location of assets and vehicles in real time, has jumped into the electric scooter sharing market, saying today that it is applying its technology to support the launch of scooter sharing services with partner Premier Wireless Solutions (PWS). According to CalAmp, its telematics devices and cloud services from PWS can be used for on-demand electric scooter sharing and "micro-mobility" management. The company said use of its devices and technology allows gathering of utilization data and real-time location of scooters on ride-sharing applications. It's unclear which one of the multiple, on-demand scooter rental services is using the CalAmp and PWS solution, if any.
