Mars Reel Finds $2.7M For Millennial Sports Media

Los Angeles-based Mars Reel, a startup which provides digital media coverage of high school basketball, aimed at millennials, has raised $2.7M in funding, the company said late Friday afternoon. According to Mars Reel, the funding came from LeBron James, Maverick Carter, hip-hop artist Nas, Steve Stoute, Bruce Tuchman (AMC, Sundance, MGM), and Robert Hisaoka. The company says the funding came as part of a $4.7M initial funding round. Mars Reel says it provides all digital sports programming in the form of short highlights delivered via Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Snapchat. The company was founded by Brandon (CEO) and Bradley Deyo. More information »
